Calendar

A calendar built for school life: your own calendars, imported ICS files and subscribed school calendars in one view. Events belong to a class, a course and a subject — and take their colour from rules you set once.

Six views

  • Teacher · Day · Week · Month · Year · List — with a search across all events and keyboard shortcuts for paging.

Three calendar sources

  • Your own calendars, created in the app with a name and a colour.
  • Subscribe — enter an ICS URL, e.g. from the school server, and set the refresh interval in hours. The app shows when it last synchronised and how many events changed.
  • Import a file — read an ICS file in once; the import is stored as a snapshot.

Events

  • Title, location, notes, all-day, start and end, assignment to a calendar, its own colour.
  • Repeats: daily or weekly, interval 1 to 30, with or without an end date.
  • For a series the app asks properly: this occurrence only, or all events.
  • Six event types: lesson, exam, meeting, deadline, holiday, other — plus a filter by type, link and source.

Colour rules — five scopes

  • This event only — the exception.
  • This weekly slot — same weekday, same time, every week.
  • Everything with this title — every “staff meeting”, for instance.
  • Subject and class — German in 9b always in the same colour.
  • The whole source — colour an entire subscription uniformly.

Weekly notes

  • In the teacher view every calendar week has a notes area: once as text, once as handwriting — on the iPad with the Apple Pencil.
  • The weekly plan can be saved as a PDF.

How it connects

Events are linked to a class, course and subject. Planning draws its lessons directly from these events — if the school moves a lesson, the plan notices.

What it deliberately does not do

  • No connection to the Apple Calendar. ClassTiles neither reads nor writes the system calendar. External calendars come in as a subscription or an import — deliberately, because that way the app needs no access to your private appointments.
  • Subscribed and imported events are read-only. They belong to their source; what you created yourself remains editable.
  • Repeats are daily and weekly — not monthly or yearly.
  • Handwritten notes exist on iPad and iPhone only.
